Status Update :)

posted in: Photography, Updates

Well, not much time to post lately – I’ve been busy with all sorts of stuff, from sorting out wedding stuff to househunting to helping my work’s office move into the new building. I’ve picked up a few more photos since my last photoblog post, and I thought I’d link to a few of them here. Rather than grouping them chronologically, I’ll present them below in groups of other forms.

So, I ran in the TC10K. Or rather, I ran for a bit of it, and then mostly walked the rest of it. I placed in 1 hour 38 minutes, which is longer than what I had wanted, but I was able to walk the next day – I’ll take that trade. :)

These flower photos are taken from two sets of photos – the two wide shots are from Beacon Hill Park in downtown Victoria on a sunny day, and the two macro photos are from Pender Island on a slightly rainy day.

We spotted this black squirrel at Beacon Hill Park on the same day as the wider flower photos from above. He looks almost exactly like our cat McFluffin, especially while running, so I decided to call him “McScratchin”.

While on Pender, I tried to take some artistic landscape-ish photos, and I quite like the results. The lone tree photo has been described as “Group of Seven influenced”. But, of course, it’s just a photo of a lonely tree. :)

Some photos that intrigue me – the shot of the Staples Tower in downtown Victoria is reminiscient, to me, of the “futuristic” photos in magazines of the 50s and 60s (you know, the Popular Science/Popular Mechanics style). On the other hand, the escalator-is-out message always succeeds in conveying a certain sense of whimsy about the shortcomings of modern technology (blah blah blah insert pretentiousness here).
